Have you heard that lionfish are now available at Whole Foods Market? That’s a wonderful thing, as this invasive species is taking over our waters and destroying our natural sea life. A higher demand for lionfish means that there will be less lionfish in our water. Now, we just need to learn how to prepare it.
If this white flakey fish is new to you and you’re not quite sure how to prepare it or you’re just interested in learning more about what lionfish is all about, then make plans to go to the Farmer’s Table on Tues., June 7 at 6 p.m. for their lionfish demonstration class. Nutritional Specialist, Abigail Nagorski will lead the class and teach attendees the history of the species, how to butcher the fish safely, as well as, provide a tasting for the class.
Cost is $15 and the entrance fee will go to benefit Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.
