Erickson Farm’s Sunday, July 21, Mango Madness event will feature tastings, educational seminars, tram rides through the groves, and more. This annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This family-owned and -operated (since 1911) farm is in Canal Point, on the southeast shore of Lake Okeechobee.
During this family-friendly festival — hosted by sisters Krista and Kim Erickson, and their father Dale — guests will enjoy free farm tours, a mango-tree-care seminar, a taste of about 10 mango varieties, entertainment and a mango-tree sale.
Food and crafts vendors also will be available.
This event is free to attend, and there is free parking as well. Wear a hat, sunscreen and closed-toe shoes.
By the way, mangoes freeze well, so you can enjoy them for months after the season ends. Read Deborah Hartz-Seeley’s story on that at http://floridafoodandfarm.com/featured/how-to-freeze-mangoes-so-you-can-enjoy-them-all-year-round.
