South Florida Bee College

No automatic alt text available. South Florida Bee College is a two-day event offering training for beekeepers of all experience levels, gardeners, naturalists, county agents, and anyone else interested in bees.
Friday and Saturday courses cover practical beekeeping skills, honey bee behavior, specialty hive products, and more. “Beekeeping 101” will be offered both days for anyone new to the world of honey bees. Check back soon for a schedule of course offerings.
Included in Registration
Admission to all classes (1 day and 2 day tickets available)
Course materials (at checkout choose either a printed book or a USB drive with PDFs)
Goodie bag
Snacks and refreshments at breaks
Raffle ticket for door prizes

The UF Honey Bee Lab is excited to host the first ever food truck rally at South Florida Bee College! A variety of local food trucks will be on site serving up delicious lunches for purchase; vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options will be available.
Complimentary snacks and refreshments will available throughtout the day at all breaks.
Note, dinner on Friday evening will not be included in this year’s schedule. Friday classes will be followed by refreshments and the award ceremony (Honey Show prizes and door prizes) which will conclude by 6:00pm.

Discounted Rates
Early bird discounted tickets are available now through July 9th!
“Discount” tickets allow the following individuals to receive 10% off a 2-Day ticket:
Active duty military members and Retired Veterans
Active members of the Master Beekeeper, Master Gardner, and/or Master Naturalist Programs
County extension faculty
Anyone under 18 years of age.

Bee Clubs/Associations can purchase a 2-day ticket at a discounted rate ($150) to raffle off to your club’s members. This is a great way to raise funds for your local club! Follow the steps below:
As a club, donate $150 to Bee College on Eventbrite.
Send an email to [email protected] to request a coupon code for a free ticket.
Hold your raffle and give your club’s coupon code to the winner.
The winner registers on Eventbrite, by entering the coupon code and choosing “Bee Club Raffle Ticket -2 Day”.
Late registrations (after August 6, 2017) will incur additional fees.

Jr. Bee College
Jr. Bee College is offered for children aged 6-12 on the Saturday of South Florida Bee College. This is a day filled with hands-on, fun, interactive games and lesson plans about insects, honey bees, and beekeeping. The kids will even get to suit up and see a real bee hive up-close at the end of the day.
Jr. Bee College is only available for children with parents/guardians attending Bee College. Please be sure to purchase a ticket (only $10 to cover supply costs) at checkout.
Note, Jr. Bee College is geared for younger children. If you think that your child would be able to partake in the full Bee College courses, consider registering them for a Youth ticket instead. Children under 6 are welcome to join you in the main Bee College classes free of charge.

Bee College Honey Show
Bee College participants are encouraged to participate in the 5th annual South Florida Bee College Honey Show. Entry is free! Rules and submission forms (required) are available here. Honey Show questions should be directed to Ms. Glinda Burnett ([email protected]).

Refund requests will be honored in full if submitted prior to August 1st. No refunds will be granted after August 1st.
Registration will be 7am-8am on both days. Doors to the building will not be open prior to 7am.
Bee veils and other protective equipment will be provided for all in-hive courses, however, you are welcome to bring personal veils, suits, etc. if you would prefer.
