The workshop Composting: Turning Yard Waste Into Black Gold will be presented by Florida Organic Growers and MW Horticulture Recycling on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Fort Myers.
The workshop will cover composting, including large-scale composting as a business. It also will include a question-and-answer session, a farm-to-table lunch, an “agritourism” farm tour, and large- and small-scale composting techniques.
It will be held at MW Horticulture Recycling’s South Yard (6250 Thomas Road, Fort Myers).
An optional tour of Miss Potter’s Place, an edible-landscaping home that includes 150 fruit trees and plants, backyard chickens, rabbits, vermiculture and more – all on 1 acre of land – is also offered. This tour is limited to 15 participants.
Registration for the workshop is $25, including the lunch. The workshop is limited to 44 participants, and closed-toe shoes are recommended.
