Florida Organic Growers, in cooperation with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS; freshfromflorida.com), is administering the 2017-18 National Organic Certification Cost-Share Program in Florida.
This program provides cost-share assistance to producers and handlers of agricultural products who are either obtaining or renewing their certification under the National Organic Program (NOP; https://www.ams.usda.gov/about-ams/programs-offices/national-organic-program). To be eligible for reimbursement, the operation must have received or renewed organic certification on or between Oct. 1, 2017, and Sept. 30, 2018.
The amount of reimbursement is 75 percent of certification costs (up to a maximum of $750) per scope of activity. Instructions can be found on the application (foginfo.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/2018-Cost-Share-Application-1.pdf).
Certain costs cannot be reimbursed under this program. They include late fees, inspections due to violations of NOP regulations, charges related to certifications other than USDA Organic, transitional certifications, materials and supplies, and equipment.
Direct questions to FOG’s cost-share coordinator at [email protected] or 352-231-7116.
This application must be signed and postmarked no later than Oct. 31, 2018.
