Everyday is a good day for a cocktail, but today is the perfect day to imbibe. Why? Well, for one, cocktails are delicious, but for two, it’s National Cocktail Day. So whether you’re craving a Bloody Mary or a Manhattan or any drink for that matter — or just want to be outside to enjoy the gorgeous Florida weather, take some time today to raise a glass to National Cocktail Day.

Although, you can choose any drink that you would like, we like to take advantage of fresh from Florida ingredients — and therefore, we are taking you on a trip to Max’s Social House for head mixologist,  Mark Volpicelli’s Shake it to the Beet cocktail.

If you’re in the area, it’s easy to swing by to enjoy, but sometimes, that just can’t happen. Therefore, here’s the recipe for the most fabulous, beet-inspired, Shake it to the Beet cocktail from Max’s Social House.

serves one

2.25 oz Death’s Door Gin
0.75 oz Lemon
1 oz Beet Simple
1 Egg White
Garnish: Two dragged drops of Peychaud’s Bitters and if you want to get fancy and create a stencil, Volpicelli uses beet powder to create the stencil

Shake and strain in a coupe.
